Cambodia’s economy is a bright spot, says IMF

Cambodia's economy is expected to remain strong despite sluggish global economic growth, with the country’s GDP growth projected at 7 per cent this year and 6.7 per cent in 2021, according to the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) recently released 2016 World Economic Outlook survey.

The balance on current account, represented as a percentage of GDP, is expected to decrease to -8.3 per cent this year, -8.0 per cent by 2017 and -5.9 per cent by 2021, the IMF predicts.

As a long-term indicator of deflation, consumer prices will rise from -0.4 per cent last year to a predicted 0.2 per cent in 2016, dropping to 0.1 per cent next year and holding at 0.0 per cent in five years.
