GMS governments seek digital connection

Ministers of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) expressed their commitment to increase regional cooperation in digital connection and adopt a Cross-Border Transport Agreement to enhance trade and tourism exchange in the region, said a statement from The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) released on Thursday.

The release comes as CDC secretary-general Sok Chenda Sophea, who is also the Cambodia GMS minister, attended the 10th GMS Economic Corridors Forum in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar and delivered the opening remarks to the forum.

The statement said Chenda Sophea emphasised the achievements of the GMS Economic Cooperation Programme since its inception and how it could further strengthen cooperation among the GMS countries and address current global economic concerns.

“The GMS ministers also highlighted the importance of connectivity between industrial sectors through GMS economic corridors to ensure competitiveness in regional and global production chains,” the statement read.
