Kingdom gets over $21M in fees, royalties from mining sector

Cambodia generated more than $21 million in non-fiscal revenue from the mining sector in 2020, up slightly from the previous year.

Yos Monirath, director-general of the General Department of Mine Resources under the Ministry of Mines and Energy, told The Post that "non-tax revenue" refers to ​recurring income obtained by the ministry through sources other than taxes such as licensing fees, land leases, royalties and penalties.

"In 2020, non-tax revenue from the mining sector totalled more than $ 21 million, a slight increase from 2019," he said.

According to the ministry's report, in 2018 non-tax revenue was $20 million, equivalent to 133 per cent of the target.

The ministry has issued more than 100 licences for all types of sand businesses and 40 licences for mining exploration across the country.
