KTH mall to be officially inaugurated

The KTH Premium Power Mall, opposite the Chinese Embassy in Phnom Penh, will be officially inaugurated on March 1 by K Thong Huot Telecom Co (KTH).

The 1,200-square-metre mall will focus on international brands of electronic products.

A mall representative told the Post the business would cater to the growing number of middle-class Cambodians.

“Demand for technology products is booming in Cambodia, especially among the younger generation,” An Borey, assistant to the marketing manager at KTH, said.

“In addition to the exclusive import of Nokia products, we would like to supply other popular brands to our customers to meet market demand.”

Borey said KTH had done market research that indicated there was a lot of potential for such a business.

The company has not released the total amount of the investment yet but said it is “fairly huge”.

According to Warren Chew, marketing manager of KTH Company, the new KTH Premium Powermall is fully owned by KTH.

Nokia and others inside the mall are brand partners that have invested in setting up their shops.

“KTH, which used to only distribute Nokia, is now distributing the other brands,” said Warren.

The mall will offer products from Canon, Electrolux, Samsung, Bose, Haier, Lenovo, Xbox and many other manufacturers.

Nokia Cambodia confirmed that it had provided the showroom’s design concept.

Jerry Manus, Nokia’s general manager for Cambodia and Laos, said the opening of the showroom was an example of his company’s commitment to consumers in Cambodia.

“We want to enhance the consumer experience and offer real value-added services such as expert product knowledge, in-store demonstrations of multimedia entertainment and a comprehensive portfolio of Nokia products,” Manus said.

Shopping malls have mushroomed in Phnom Penh in recent years as the Kingdom’s economy develops.

In December last year, Aeon, Japan’s biggest developer and operator of shopping malls, broke ground on a three-storey mall in the capital.

The mega-mall will cover more than 68,000 square metres, and Aeon says it is considering building more malls in the capital.
