Metfone Extends Sponsorship for Cambodia’s top flight football league

Phnom Penh, 23 June, 2022 -Metfone, a leading mobile operator in Cambodia, has extended its sponsorship deal with Cambodian Premier League (CPL) for another three years to 2024, which will see the company splash out 500,000 USD each year.

Asigning ceremony was held to this effect, presided over by HE Sao Sokha, President of Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC), Metfone CEO Mr Phung Van Cuong and CPL CEO Mr Satoshi Saito.

Speaking at the event, Mr Phung Van Cuong said the sponsorship is part of Metfone’s commitment to the development of the Cambodian sports scene, especially football, stressing that investing in sports is an investment for the future.

“Sponsoring Cambodian football is Metfone’s responsibility, contributing to the development and improvement of the quality of football, in particular, and Cambodian sports in general.

HE Sao Sokha, President of FFC, expressed his gratitude to Metfone for its continued sponsorship of Cambodian football.

“We are delighted and grateful to Metfone for its support of the football industry since our League's beginnings. Metfone joined and supported us despite the fact that they have not made a profit since their inception. Our League would not be possible without Metfone. I would like to encourage all business investors to look at Metfone as an example,” HE Sao Sokha said.

CPL CEO Mr Satoshi Saito thanked Metfone for the sponsorship, adding that through this arrangement, the local league and clubs will grow, and the football landscape will evolve as it has in other countries.

“Metfone and CPL believe in Cambodian football – that we will grow our league and clubs and make our national team bigger and stronger, as we move towards the SEA Games next year, and beyond,” he said.
