The telecommunications company – which officially started offering services in Cambodia more than a decade ago – has gone on to build the largest telecommunications network infrastructure covering all residential areas, and currently provides services to nearly nine million users across the Kingdom.

The company’s great success has been hugely thanks to the support from the Cambodian government and relevant institutions, as well as the hard work of the company’s 2,000-strong workforce who have strived to build Metfone as one of the best companies in Cambodia.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all relevant government authorities for their support for us to operate our business here. Especially during the global outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic in 2020 and 2021, the Cambodian government developed a well-timed and effective vaccination strategy, along with strict anti-epidemic measures to minimise the impact on the business environment.

“Also, my profound thanks to our great staff and employees for making Metfone a successful company.

“Building upon our great success, we today mark our 13th anniversary with our brand mission to create ‘A Connected Digital Society’ in Cambodia. And to achieve the mission, we will build up the most advanced telecoms network with most modern technologies such as 5G, narrowband IoT, Big Data and AI; and implement ICT solutions and services for government, ministries, enterprises, organisations and households including smart city, e-government and cloud-based services.

“We will also invest in VAS and media content as well as switch to digital services with free games, videos and applications for all customers,” said Metfone CEO Phung Van Cuong.

Metfone has received awards and prizes from some of the world’s most renowned organisations since its entry into the field of telecommunications and information technology. The awards have been given in recognition of the company’s best products and services to users.

Having last year won four gold awards for CamID, SIS system, eMoney and e-wallet, and the Buddhist film series “Path of Dharma”, Metfone was named by the IBA International Award organisation as being in the top five companies receiving the most awards of the year.

In addition to serving its nine million users, Metfone has also been active in CSR activities to give back to society.

Some of its outstanding CSR work includes: “It is not a dream” programme; “Internet for schools”; Metfone health care programme for poor people in collaboration with humanitarian organisation Samdech Techo Voluntary Youth Doctor Association; its relief packs in collaboration with the Cambodian Red Cross; Metfone funds to the government for fighting Covid-19; and the Metfone Cambodian Leagues in sport.

The total amount contributed to social activities so far is $100 million, and it continues to provide $8 million to $10 million annually to support humanitarian efforts.

Going forward, Metfone’s next goal is to consolidate its status as the number one telecommunications and digital technology company in Cambodia with the core mission: creating “A Connected Digital Society.”

Meanwhile, Metfone is committed to investing in a widespread and robust telecoms infrastructure adopting the latest technologies such as 5G, narrowband IoT, Big Data and AI to support the Cambodian government, people and business communities to speed up digitalisation and the “smartization” of business activities.

Last but not least, Metfone will continue to be the number one company in providing telecoms services such as mobile phone, broadband internet, transmission, digital television and media content.

As well as that, new services are taking shape such as digital payments, digital banking, smart city, cloud-based services and online advertisements. All will contribute to a better future – a digital life for the Kingdom of Cambodia.
