Minister to ASEAN: Budget allocation and execution efficiency, green progress top priorities

Cambodia attaches utmost priority to pursuing greater efficiency in budget allocation and execution, improving tax administration and policy, and promoting fiscal revenue diversification, to get the economy back to its full potential and ensure financial sustainability, according to Minister of Economy and Finance Aun Pornmoniroth.

Pornmoniroth made the remark during a High-Level Conference on the topic “Sustainable Finance: Mobilising Financial Resources for Economic Recovery in the Post-Covid-19 Era” on April 7, which was held during the 8th ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meeting (AFMGM).

The minister added that the Kingdom gives special prominence to leveraging sustainable green technologies and practices to enhance the resilience of socio-economic development.

“We must devise realistic and extensively thought-out solutions that address challenges in the fiscal sphere and that explore new green finance initiatives to revitalise the regional economy in an inclusive and sustainable manner, by focusing on closer cooperation between member states and international finance institutions,” he said.

The meeting was attended by the leadership of the finance ministry and representatives from ASEAN central banks, national and international financial institutions, development partners, research institutions and private businesses.

The conference is a major event in the run-up to the second ASEAN Global Dialogue, which is set to take place during the ASEAN summit later this year.
