Prime Minister Hun Sen has reviewed a report on key issues threatening the nation’s rice sector and sent it back to the Ministry of Commerce for further study and expert analysis, Council of Minister spokesman Phay Siphan said yesterday.
The report, submitted by the CRISIS initiative on Friday, outlines four recommendations aimed at shoring up the rice sector, which the group claims is on the brink of collapse.
The measures include: facilitating soft loans to rice millers, imposing a quota on rice imports, reducing electricity fees for millers and providing better logistics.
