Royal Group’s Neak Oknha Kith Meng appoints Simon Perkins as CEO of Cellcard

Royal Group chairman and CEO Neak Oknha Kith Meng has appointed Simon Perkins as CEO of Cellcard, effective from July 1.

A veteran in the telecommunications industry, Perkins – who comes with a proven track record after having worked for Millicom, Axiata, Hutchison and British Telecom – has taken over from Ian Watson.

“I would like to recognise Ian Watson for having worked with me for nine years and serving the Royal Group as a key executive. Ian is looking forward to going back to the UK. Cellcard is now well positioned locally and regionally as a strong investable brand.

"I am pleased that Simon Perkins accepted the position of CEO and look forward to Cellcard’s growth under his term,” said Kith Meng, who is also the chairman of the board at Cellcard.

Commenting on his new post, Perkins said: “I am very excited to join Cellcard and the Royal Group. I look forward to developing the company further and contributing to the chairman’s vision of a fully connected and digital Cambodia.”

Cellcard is the only 100 per cent Cambodian-owned telecommunications company. In operation since 1996, it is the most awarded mobile network having achieved more than 30 industry awards for network excellence.

As well as an impressive six consecutive Ookla Speedtest awards, it has also notched up a number of category wins from Opensignal, including Best Games Experience in February 2020.
