Single Portal records 10,536 companies in just 19 months

A total of 10,536 companies have been successfully registered as of January 12 on the government’s online business registration system, also known as the Single Portal, in the 19 months since its launch in mid-2020.

As of the afternoon of January 12, 1,149 companies were in the inspection phase; 8,272 were “registered for reservation”; and 358 were under final review, according to Single Portal figures.

The government launched the integrated e-business registration platform on June 15, 2020, incorporating six ministries and state-run institutions – the finance, interior, commerce and labour ministries, and the General Department of Taxation (GDT) and Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).

On September 1, the government deployed Phase II of the platform integrating four new agencies – the Non-Bank Financial Services Authority’s Real Estate Business and Pawnshop Regulator (REBPB), and the industry, tourism and telecoms ministries.

Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) vice-president Lim Heng pointed out that the portal has been highly praised since its inception for its efficiency, contribution to easing the business environment, and cutting down on time, fees, unnecessary travel and complicated procedures.

He told The Post that the platform, along with a host of economic reforms, have provided a boost of confidence in the private sector, removing doubts and hesitation about starting a new business or expanding an existing one.

Finance ministry spokesman Meas Soksensan had previously told The Post that the Single Portal requires companies to complete just a one-time business registration form, taking a maximum of eight days.

He noted that all data submitted by companies under the single portal will be automatically sent to all ministries and state-run institutions that integrated to the system.
