US-based coffee giant Starbucks has extended a licensing agreement with Hong Kong’s Maxim’s Caterers Ltd, the operator of Starbucks outlets in Cambodia, allowing the company to maintain exclusive expansion rights over the franchise in Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau and now Singapore, the company said in a press release on Friday.
“The move further accelerates Starbucks’ operations in these important markets and aligns with Starbucks’ growth agenda,” the release said. Starbucks opened its first Cambodian outlet in the capital in December 2015 and has since expanded with stores in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. The company has over 1,000 cafes in the Asean region.
