A senior Ministry of Tourism official encouraged those working in the sector to warmly welcome visitors and make them feel at home during their visit to Siem Reap and other tourist attractions in Cambodia.
Ministry secretary of state Ho Sarun made the call during a workshop on good hospitality and safe tourism in Siem Reap province on April 7. He said good hospitality is key to ensuring visitors' satisfaction.
The workshop was held to support the government's efforts to reopen the country and to promote tourism to fully-vaccinated tourists.
He said tourism has been regarded as ‘green gold’ as it is a sector that significantly contributes to the country’s socio-economic growth, job creation, poverty reduction and environment protection in response to climate change.
In the last 10 years, before the pandemic, Cambodia had seen a remarkable increase in the number of international tourists at a rate of 12 per cent annually, he noted.
