Workshop aims to support honest business practices

The Consumer Protection Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate-General (CCF) and the National Bank of Cambodia organised a workshop titled "Enforcement of Competition Law and the Sub-Decree on the Terms and Conditions for Business Merger" on July 13.

The goal of the workshop was to disseminate an understanding of competition law and related provisions among individuals in the banking and financial sectors. The workshop was led by Phan Aun, general director of CCF.

Emphasis was placed on a recently issued sub-decree outlining procedures for business mergers, which will come into effect on September 6 this year.

As per the sub-decree, businesses intending to merge are required to provide advanced notification of their plans, as well as register their consolidated businesses.

The CCF mentioned that the workshop would help businesses to ensure competition is carried out equitably and honestly, safeguarding user interests and fostering the implementation of competition law and related sub-decrees.

Ultimately, the workshop aimed to help those involved in business mergers to establish a firm foundation for their application process.
