“Pleased to meet Lt. Gen Hun Manet of Cambodia today afternoon. [We] exchanged views on the geopolitical situation & regional challenges. Agreed on the need for independence minded nations to cooperate closely,” said Jaishankar, on social media.

He added that they also had discussed possibilities for closer cooperation in defence and security, connectivity and digital delivery.

Manet also laid a wreath at the National War Memorial and received a Guard of Honour at the South Gate, according to an Indian army social media post.

During his meeting with Manoj Pande, Indian army Chief of Army, they discussed avenues to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.

“During the interaction, terms of reference for staff level talks between the two Armies were signed, and folders on customised training for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces were exchanged between the two general officers,” said the Indian army.
