The endorsement was made during the 43rd Meeting of the CPP’s Central Committee at the party’s headquarters in Phnom Penh's Chamkarmon district on the morning of December 24, attended by more than 830 Central Committee members.

The meeting was chaired by Hun Sen, the CPP president, and honorary president Heng Samrin who is currently National Assembly president.

AKP noted that Manet was born on October 20, 1977 in Memot district’s Koh Thmar village, formerly a part of Kampong Cham province, but now located in Tbong Khmum province’s easternmost commune of Tonloung. He married Pich Chanmony and fathered two daughters and one son.
