The National Assembly (NA) will hold a plenary session for a vote of confidence in Prach Chan as the new National Election Committee (NEC) chairman to replace recently resigned Sek Bunhok.
The NA’s Permanent Committee said in a press statement on June 22 that at a recent meeting it had approved the sixth parliament session for June 24 to vote on Chan, who was nominated by the Cambodian People’s Party last week, among other agenda items.
“The meeting approved recognition of His Excellency Men Kuon as lawmaker for Tbong Khmum province to replace Prach Chan who resigned to decide the validity of his mandate in the sixth session,” the NA said.
It said the coming session will also discuss other items such as approving Khem Chan Kiri as a lawmaker for Kandal province to replace Ngor Sovann who resigned.
The NA will also debate and approve two draft laws on the government’s approval of payment guarantee to SchneiTec Co Ltd for construction of 500kw power transmission lines from Battambang province to the Cambodian-Thai border and for a similar project from Phnom Penh to the Lao border.
Another item to be discussed and approved is a draft law on the approval of payment guarantee of the Cambodian government to the Electricity Company of Vietnam for guaranteeing electricity purchases.
A final item on the agenda is approval of China National Heavy Machinery Corporation’s 150MW Stung Tatai Leu hydropower dam project in Koh Kong province.
