14 sent to court for violating Covid measures

Fourteen people were sent to court while more than 800 were reprimanded and fined throughout the country on August 5 for violating Covid-19 measures including the 9pm-3am curfew.

According to a report from the Inter-ministerial Committee to Combat Covid-19, authorities briefly held 829 people, stopped 330 vehicles and issued fines totalling 44 million riel ($11,000).

Phnom Penh police stopped 1,205 vehicles plying in curfew hours over the first five days of the nightly restriction – 311 cases were found to be in violation while the drivers of the rest carried valid permits.
