Law enforcement officials called on the public to play their part in maintaining security and public order during the ongoing ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and related meetings, held in Siem Reap province from November 20-24.
National Military Police spokesman Eng Hy asked that they join hands in ensuring the safety of the visiting international delegates, and that they stay clear of the convoys that would be on the roads during the meetings.
Hy warned against disturbing the visiting dignitaries or their security details, whether at the airport or their accommodation. “Please join us in making the event a success and protecting our national honour and prestige,” he urged.
The 9th ADMM+ meetings are also underway from November 21-23, with Chinese Minister of Defence Wei Fenghe and US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin in attendance. Minister of National Defence Tea Banh will lead the meetings.
The provincial administration on November 20 notified people of road closures during the events, including a stretch of National Road 6 between the airport and Sokha Siem Reap Hotel.
“The roads will only be closed temporarily, as delegates pass by. We will reopen them as soon as possible,” it said.
