Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Dith Tina met with Australian Ambassador to Cambodia Pablo Kang on the afternoon of November 4 to discuss bilateral cooperation in the agriculture sector.

Following the meeting, Tina posted to social media saying that he and Kang, with agriculture ministry officials in attendance, had discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries on the agriculture sector in Cambodia and the new Cambodia-Australia Partnership for Resilience Economic Development.

“Pablo Kang and I discussed the Cambodia-Australia Partnership for Resilience Economic Development – which is a new project with Australian funding – to make this programme respond to the needs of Cambodians,” Tina posted.

Kang also tweeted about the meeting on November 5, saying that he was pleased to have caught up with the agriculture minister. He said he had also joined Tina’s recent visits to farmers in flood-affected provinces.

“We had talked about Australia’s long history of agriculture cooperation with Cambodia, our new CAP-RED programme, market demands, supply chains, fertilisers, social media and more,” he said.

The Australian government announced on November 3 that in 2022-2023 it will provide an estimated $80.8 million to Cambodia through its development programmes as part Australia’s Official Development Assistance to Southeast Asia worth a total of $470 million over the next four years.
