In Brief: 13 imprisoned for illegal angling

Kampong Chhnang provincial court on Tuesday sentenced 13 men to three years in prison and fined them 15 million riels (US$3,644) each for illegal fishing, court officials said. Penh Vibol, prosecutor for Kampong Chhnang province, said verdicts came after two days of court proceedings, and that 62 motorboats were seized as part of the ruling. The fishermen, who hail from Pursat, Kampong Chhnang and Kampong Thom provinces, were arrested on January 21 for using illegal materials to fish in Tonle Sap lake.
