At least 1,000 hectares of rice were destroyed in floods between July 27 and Sunday in Veun Sai and Lumphat districts, Ratanakkiri province, provincial governor Muong Poy told the Post on Tuesday. Chum Gnil, governor of Veun Sai district, said that floodwater had covered about 3,000 hectares of farmland and killed three buffalo, two cows, and dozens of chickens and ducks. "We have not yet calculated the amount of rice seedlings damaged because we have been too busy evacuating people from the flooded area," he said.
