Officials from the Consumer Protection, Competition and Fraud Repression directorate-general (CCF) branches in Kampong Speu, Mondulkiri, and Kampot provinces have teamed up with local authorities to advance a food safety education campaign.
This food safety education programme has already engaged over 1,200 students and teachers.
Acting under the CCF's leadership and within their role as food safety advocates, officials from these branches joined forces with local educators and authorities. They visited Chhay Thup Secondary School in Chbar Mon town, Kampong Speu province; Sek Ta Kong High School, Kampot town, Kampot province; and Monorom Secondary School, Sen Monorom town, Mondulkiri province.
Together, they spearheaded the food safety education campaign, reaching a total of 1,230 teachers and students, according to a social media post by the CCF on July 13.
During this educational initiative, the heads of the CCF branches and other officials provided a detailed explanation of the CCF's mission and responsibilities in protecting consumer health and food safety. They outlined four laws that the CCF adheres to in this context.
The forum also included a question-and-answer segment between students and trainers. This programme is designed to enhance student awareness of laws and regulations, particularly in relation to selecting safe food for consumption.
Meanwhile, officials from the CCF's Kandal province branch, in collaboration with customs police officers and local authorities, supervised the disposal of nearly 5,000kg of tainted pig entrails and skins that had been confiscated on July 11.
The social media post also clarified that, had these adulterated items made their way to market, they could have posed a serious risk to consumer health.
