A drug dealer was sentenced yesterday in Phnom Penh to 15 years in jail and a fine of about $5,000 for an offence committed in the capital’s Chroy Changvar district in February.
Chrunh Sruon, 34, was charged under anti-drugs legislation earlier this year after being arrested on February 14 while carrying more than 300 grams of methamphetamine, according to Phnom Penh Municipal Court presiding judge Svay Tonh.
“The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison and fined him 20 million riel [about $5,000] to add to the national budget,” Tonh said.
He added that police had stopped Sruon and searched his motorbike, finding 301 grams of meth stashed under his seat. Sruon declined to comment on the sentence.
