First-round Covid vaccinations for adults and gifts for centenarians come to close

Ministry of Health spokeswoman Or Vandine announced that the first round of Covid-19 vaccinations for people aged 18 and over had come to a close. She noted, however, that people who missed it still have two more weeks to get the jabs.

Vandine, who is also head of the national Covid-19 vaccination committee, announced the wrap-up as she brought Prime Minister Hun Sen’s gifts to the last vaccinated centenarians in Kampot province on October 21.

According to the ministry, over 9.9 million people of the target adult population of 10 million had been vaccinated as of October 21.

Vandine also said that Prime Minister Hun Sen’s gifts for vaccinated centenarians came to an end on October 21, with 149 of them having been vaccinated against Covid-19. Among them, 100 are women.

“Prime Minister Hun Sen’s decision to gift vaccinated centenarians is a great decision. It reflects his profound care for our centenarians,” she said, adding that each of them received three million riel ($750) and other food assistance.
