The National Social Assistance Fund (NSAF) received nearly 60 office supply items from the governments of Germany and Australia through the German development agency GIZ. The materials will support the NSAF’s efforts to provide effective social assistance.
The March 21 handover ceremony took place at the NSAF headquarters, presided over by Nheb Sopheap, secretary of state at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation.
According to Chhour Sopanha, NSAF director-general, the equipment included laptops, printers, photocopiers, a suite for online conferences, TVs, cameras and office furniture.
“The material aid totals about $70,000 and will strengthen our day-to-day operations,” he said.
He added that the provision of the supplies stemmed from a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between GIZ and the NSAF.
“These materials will support our daily work. They are symbolic of the close support that Germany and Australia have provided to the implementation of digital social assistance,” he added.
In addition to the material assistance, GIZ will provide capacity development to the NSAF staff. This will include both theoretical and technical training. The agency will provide experts who will train the NSAF’s assistants while they carry out practical work, effectively providing on-the-job instruction.
