Heavy trucks banned amid Koh Kong roadwork

Koh kong provincial authorities have announced a plan to temporarily ban heavy trucks from travelling on National Road 48, while it’s being repaired by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

According to the ministry’s assessment, about 22.26 per cent of the road or around 35km between the province’s Sre Ampel district and Khemarak Phoumin town is severely damaged.

After attending the second preparatory meeting for the upcoming Sea Festival on Sunday, Koh Kong provincial governor Phouthong Mithona wrote a letter to inform the logistics companies throughout the province of the plan.

She said the temporary ban is to prevent accidents and allow time for the experts to fix the road.

Koh Kong provincial hall spokesperson Sok Sothy told The Post that his team would convene on Tuesday to discuss further solutions.
