Heavy trucks banned from travel on stretch of National Road 95 in Preah Vihear due to floods

Heavy trucks banned from travel on stretch of National Road 95 in Preah Vihear due to floods

The Preah Vihear provincial government has temporarily banned travel by heavy trucks on a stretch of National Road 95 in Preah Vihear’s Chey Sen district due to increasing floodwaters, according to the provincial Department of Public Works and Transport.

In an announcement made on October 7, the provincial department said that all heavy trucks must refrain from travelling on this stretch of National Road 95 from today until further notice.

The department said that the flooding situation caused by heavy rains has caused the waters there to rise to emergency levels, making infrastructure such as roads and bridges unable to bear the weight of heavy trucks.

The exact stretch where travel is banned runs from kilometer post number 40 to number 41 in Putrea commune.

The department asked for understanding from truck drivers and hoped that they would cooperate responsibly in order to preserve the integrity of the road infrastructure.
