Indian Embassy released videos depicting shared heritage

Indian Embassy released videos depicting shared heritage

The Indian Embassy on August 12 launched videos describing the wonderful temples of Cambodia with great culture and civilisation similar to that of India to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.

Indian ambassador to Cambodia Devyani Khobragade said India was the first country to renovate and preserve the Angkor Wat Temple after the Khmer Rouge regime – working from 1986 through 1993 – and India still continued to be actively involved in the preservation of Preah Vihear and Ta Prohm temples.

She added that the 20 videos spoke about many important temples in Cambodia, such as Angkor Wat, Preah Vihear, Chisor and Ta Prohm. These temples have a strong Indian connection with Shiva, Vishnu and Lord Ganesh clearly depicted in the temples.

“The clips will be available on the YouTube Channel of the Indian Embassy in Phnom Penh and on all social media,” she added.

Hab Touch, secretary of state of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts thanked the embassy for the initiative.

He hoped that the videos would help Indians and Cambodians to understand their shared cultural heritage. He expected more Indians to visit the temples after seeing the videos.
