Justice Ministry to review pardons and reductions

Officials from the justice and interior ministries are to meet today to review the pardon and sentence reduction requests filed by inmates of prisons nationwide for Pchum Ben, a prison spokesperson said.

San Keo, the prison department spokesperson, said the prosecution department of the Ministry of Justice already has the list of more than 300 inmates for review.

“Normally, we don’t mete out pardons or sentence reductions during Pchum Ben, but this year, Samdech [Hun Sen] requested to have it. I don’t know who is on the list as I have never looked at individual requests,” he said.
