Kandal governor requests emergency assistance for southeast Takhmao flood victims

Kandal provincial governor Kong Sophorn has instructed Takhmao town officials to prepare makeshift tents and toilets as well as clean drinking water sources for recent flood victims, and have a medical team on standby.

An estimated 100 households who live along the Prek They canal in southeastern Takhmao were forced to evacuate after flash floods caused the banks to collapse on January 17.

Sophorn also instructed the Kandal provincial branch of the Cambodian Red Cross and relevant personnel to be ready to assist victims with food and basic materials.

The provincial governor made the remarks on the afternoon of January 19 as he led a group to inspect the damages caused by the floods – in Roka Khpuos commune’s Prek They village – and discuss assistance for victims.

Joining him were officials from specialised departments, Takhmao town authorities and relevant officials.
