Man shot at ATM on Sihanouk Boulevard

A man was shot twice and left seriously injured as he was robbed while exiting an ATM on Phnom Penh’s Sihanouk Boulevard in the wee hours of yesterday morning, police said.

Boeung Keng Kang II commune police chief Chum Koy declined to identify the 19-year-old victim, but said that he had been shot once in the shoulder and once in the thigh, and had been sent to the ICU at Calmette hospital.

“There were two suspects driving a 2016 125cc Honda Dream bike, the same brand of bike as was robbed from the victim.”

Local media quoted eyewitnesses as saying the victim resisted the suspects, and struggled to keep his bike.

When he shouted “robber”, one of the suspects took out a gun and shot him, taking his motor-bike and leaving him lying on the pavement.
