Ministry advances robotics training for technicians

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport has held a three-day training session on remote robot control for technicians in electricity, electronics and mechanics. The aim is to bolster skills in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, or Industry 4.0) and enhance the technical curriculum.

The workshop, which ran from September 20-22 in Siem Reap province, saw the participation of 55 technicians from 14 general knowledge and technical high schools.

Ministry secretary of state Chuon Chivin said the course was geared towards elevating knowledge and broadening the technical capabilities of participants in the use of robotics.

"These sessions can also boost production automation and strengthen the implementation of the relevant curriculum at technical schools," said Chivin.

He expressed gratitude to the principals and officials from the Southeast Asian Centre for Technical Education and Development (SEAMEO TED) for facilitating the training in line with the government's vision and mission.

Chivin also voiced hope that all participants would not only enhance their personal skills but also share their newfound knowledge with fellow teachers who have not had similar opportunities.

Kong Samneang, head of the Federation of Education Services, endorsed the initiative, saying: "This programme ensures teachers can educate students more effectively. Furthermore, the technical instruction contributes to the creation of a skilled, quality workforce to cater to domestic and international job markets”.

The ministry underscored that under the new government, technical education remains a top priority. In pursuit of the nation's development objectives, the ministry remains committed to elevating human resources, with a specific focus on improving the quality of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
