Over 100 trees planted as Kampong Thom hosts River Festival

Over 100 trees planted as Kampong Thom hosts River Festival

A Ministry of Tourism senior official, in collaboration with relevant authorities, planted more than 100 luxury-wood trees at the “wedding park” in Kampong Thom as the province hosts the 7th River Festival from March 8-10.

Ministry secretary of state Top Sopheak said the ministry has launched the 'One Tourist, One Tree' and 'One Couple, One Tree' campaign to attract local and international tourists, including couples, to plant a tree and then visit the area over and over to enjoy seeing their trees grow.

Sopheak called on state institutions, students, the private sector and the general public to support the tree planting movement to maintain and conserve cultural and natural resources for people now and in the future.

The ministry and the National Committee for Organising National and International Festivals also organised a workshop on March 8 to guide local business owners to participate in improving the quality of tourism services.

The provincial tourism department provided certificates of commendation for tourism services to 90 businesses near the festival for providing high-quality services.
