Prime Minister Hun Sen congratulated 13-year-old prodigy Heu Tieng Kimhong for passing this year’s high school exam. The young man obtained a grade C result.
Tieng Kimhong was born in August 2009 in Prasat Chonchum commune of Takeo province’s Kiri Vong district. His father is a retired banker, and his mother is a teacher.
In 2017, when he was 7 years of age, he was presented to Prime Minister Hun Sen to demonstrate his academic abilities. The prime minister was impressed and recommended that he skip several grades. He also offered him financial support and an apartment in Phnom Penh.
“I congratulate Kimhong for passing the December 5 baccalaureate. I am happy and proud of your efforts,” Hun Sen posted on social media.
Hun Sen compared Tieng Kimhong to a magical character in a movie.
“I can say that Kimhong is a divine person. There may not be many people as special as him on Earth. Kimhong is more capable than I am at computer science and the English language – this is the truth and I must accept that,” he said.
He estimated that Kimhong could finish a Bachelor’s Degree at the age of 17; master at 19, and PhD at the age of 23, but he would not be surprised if he finished them sooner.
He promised to cover all of the expenses of Kimhong’s education.
“Like I said in 2017, I will cover all of your tuition. I wish you all the best in your studies and in your life,” he said.
