PM lashes out at Vietnamese detractors on Facebook

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday issued a statement condemning a group of three presumably Vietnamese individuals who have taken to Prime Minister Hun Sen’s Facebook page to voice criticism of Cambodia since July.

Most recently, a user named Nguyen Van Tai commented that Vietnam should be able to count on its small neighbours Cambodia and Laos for support in the South China Sea dispute. While originally responsive, Hun Sen now appears to be fed up with the comments.

“I hope that Vietnam’s leader will receive my reply and educate Vietnamese people not to disturb me anymore, since lately, some Vietnamese people talked improperly on my Facebook page,” he wrote on Facebook.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs appealed to Vietnamese authorities to take measures to search for, identify and punish the group of individuals responsible.

Officials at the Vietnamese Embassy could not be reached.
