Preah Sihanouk, Vietnam’s Tay Ninh forge new tourism bonds

Cambodia and Vietnam are bolstering tourism and trade ties between Preah Sihanouk and Tay Ninh provinces, with an eye on the future.

On August 20, Preah Sihanouk deputy governor Long Dimanche described the meeting as the inaugural collaboration between the two regions.

“Vietnam is prepared to attract Cambodian tourists to Tay Ninh with Khmer leaflets and videos,” he noted.

This was rooted in discussions between Mang Sineth, another Preah Sihanouk deputy governor, and Trung Thi Phi Fang, vice-director of Tay Ninh’s Culture and Tourism Department.

Sineth highlighted the appeal of the coastal province, pointing out national parks, beaches and a wealth of resources that attract tourists and investors.

“Preah Sihanouk has been recognised as one of the world’s most stunning beach destinations in 2011. Such accolades have shaped its tourism vision, establishing it as a versatile economic hub,” he added.

The Tay Ninh delegation said the primary focus of the meeting was to enhance the tourism, cultural, historical and mutual tourism ties.

Thuon Sinan, president of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Cambodia Chapter, hailed this cooperation. He emphasised its alignment with both private sector and government aspirations to spur tourism.

“I hope that every province, not just Preah Sihanouk, takes proactive steps to promote their tourism offerings. This way, they can pull in tourists and boost their revenue, following the lead of nearby nations and others globally,” he said.
