The water level of the Stung Sen river in Preah Vihear province has nearly reached an emergency point, prompting authorities to issue a warning of flash floods.

Citing the provincial Department of Water Resources and Meteorology, they said that on the morning of September 25, the water level in Stung Sen had reached 11.38m, approaching the emergency point of 11.50m.

In a separate notice on September 24, the provincial administration said heavy rain continued to fall in the last few consecutive days, pushing the river to approach flooding level.

“To ensure safety and avoid disasters, the provincial administration calls on people living along the Stung Sen river and the Mekong riverbank as well as other flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and find safety ground ahead of flooding,” it said.
