Sar Kheng’s Facebook help page solves 58 issues in Q1

In the first three months of this year, the working group that monitors Minister of Interior Sar Kheng’s Facebook account solved 58 problems for people of the 269 requests made on his page.

The working group tallied 269 requests or enquiries from the public.

Sar Kheng said that the working group has responded to the account holders and resolved 58 of their issues, while the other 137 cases that remained were still being addressed.

He said there were also requests made and questions asked that didn’t fall under the jurisdiction of the interior ministry and those inquiries were transferred to the appropriate authorities.

“This progress is achieved due to the efforts and cooperation between the leaders and officials within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Interior, at both the national and sub-national level, along with my Facebook working group,” he said in a Facebook post On April 19.

At the same time, he suggested that some officials within the interior ministry speed up their resolution process and ensure they address all aspects of the problem from every angle and not just follow administrative procedures.

He also thanked people for the comments and suggestions made to the Facebook page in order to help keep them out of the overburdened court system and make people’s lives easier while improving society.

“Once again, I would like to take the opportunity to ask for understanding and patience from my compatriots for some of the cases that the working group has not yet resolved, because some of them require more time to follow the procedures,” he said.

Am Sam Ath, deputy director of rights group LICADHO, said that addressing complaints or requests directly through Sar Kheng’s Facebook page was a way to help people save time and money that allows citizens to raise the problems of inactivity and indifference by local officials to the national leadership.

However, Sam Ath said that the working group should try to expedite the resolution of these issues in a transparent and non-discriminatory manner.

“However, we ask that the solutions be transparent and that there be no discrimination against anyone regardless of their political affiliation,” he said.

According to the summary report regarding the results of Sar Kheng’s Facebook working group for the first three months of 2021, they counted 655 total requests for assistance in that period with 111 of them resolved while 544 were still being worked on past March.
