Where and when to catch Phnom Penh’s new water taxi

Schedules and stops for Phnom Penh’s new water taxi service are now available online and the service will continue uninterrupted through the Khmer New Year holiday, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

The route currently runs from Takhmao in the south to Russey Keo in the north, stopping at Chaktomuk and at Old Market in Daun Penh district.

Travel time from end to end is approximately 45-50 minutes with nine runs occurring throughout the day, according to a published schedule (below). The schedule includes times for stops at Prek Phnov bridge and Chbar Ampov, though these were not operating as of Wednesday and their launch date has not been announced.

The water taxi service, which launched on April 6, will be free of charge until August 1, 2018, after which the cost will be 5,400 riel (about $1.40), the MPWT said.

In a January Facebook post the MPWT indicated there was a plan to eventually expand the service to cover 15 stops.
