Half marathon slated for December 7 running

The 19th Angkor Wat International Half Marathon will be held on December 7 in Siem Reap province, organisers revealed during a press conference held yesterday at the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia headquarters.

“[This race] attracts both local athletes and tourists. We have successfully held the event for 18 years in row,” Tourism Minister and NOCC President Thong Khon said during his address.

According to the minister, more than 4,000 foreign runners from 65 different countries have already registered along with about 2,000 local athletes. Apart from the 21-kilometre blue ribband race, there will also be 10km and 3km events aimed at the more casual participants.

Registration can be made via the official website, www.angkormarathon.org, or by phone to 012 355 005 (Phnom Penh) or 098 573 136 (Siem Ream).

Fees are set at $55 for foreigners and $15 for locals in the half marathon, $50 for foreigners and $12 for locals in the 10km race and $30 for foreigners and $5 for locals in the 3km run.
