The martial arts event Kun Khmer All Star has reached a remarkable milestone by gaining over 210k views. This achievement coincided with fighter Pich Sambath delivering a powerful knockout blow to his Lao opponent, securing him a car prize.
Notable victories were also claimed by boxers Roeung Sophorn, Long Piseth and Pich Bunsith, who earned championship belts. Additionally, Elit Sun successfully defended his belt title against Myanmar boxer Zaw Aye See.
The eighth installment of the event was held at the National Olympic Stadium on August 22. Ticket sales were tiered at $3, $5 and $10 for the various sections.
Expressing his gratitude, Sun took to social media to thank the fans who played a pivotal role in setting this record for the event. He also extended his appreciation to the boxers, acknowledging their dedication to putting forth their best performances. He also humbly sought forgiveness for technical glitches and boxer substitutions that occurred during the event.
Highlights of the event included SEA Games medallist Piseth's draw with Sun in a three-round match for the 51kg belt. Bunsith secured the 57kg belt by rendering Rithy Sosen unconscious in the second round. Another medallist, Sophorn, clinched victory by knocking out Omar El Ouers in the first round, securing the Kun Khmer All Star title in the 69kg category. Sun proved his mastery, beating Myanmar's See, earning him the 60kg belt.
Beyond the tournament, Cambodian boxer Rithy Channa secured victory by knocking out Lao boxer Khunlek VH Gym in the third round. In a similar fashion, Cambodian boxer Rith Borin emerged triumphant by defeating Lao boxer Petchmanee in the second round.
The intensity continued as Cambodia's Pich Singhak executed a match-ending kick on Lao boxer Plakat during the second round, resulting in the referee's intervention.
In a notable international friendly match, Cambodian-Nigerian fighter Munonye Emmanuel Onyedikachi, known as Manu, offered Lao boxer Chat Samai a rematch opportunity to quell any uncertainties stemming from their previous encounter on the Town Ring. Manu dominated his Lao opponent causing him to surrender in the second round.
Reflecting on his victory, Manu said, "At the previous match, I had knocked him out in the third round using my knees, a move I learned from fighter Prum Sommang, but he wasn’t satisfied and I wasn’t either, so I asked for the re-match."
