Kun Khmer and Muay Thai are set to share the same ring on Sunday in an electric clash of kickboxing styles as Cambodian fighters face off against their Thai counterparts at the SEA TV Arena in Sen Sok.
In the morning session, which starts at 8am, Khim Bora takes on Thailand’s Yorth Bundeth at 60 kg. Yorth, who is 1.67 m (5ft 7in), has a record of 53 wins, six losses and a draw.
The Thai boxer was knocked out in the second round by local fighter Saroeun Chan in his previous fight on Cambodian soil, but with his expert use of kicks, he is considered a very dangerous opponent.
K Cement title holder Meas Chanmean, 95 wins, 25 losses, will have a challenge on his hands in the 65kg division with Thai newcomer Super Boy, who holds a record of 79 wins, 16 losses and 4 draws at home.
In the evening session, at 8pm, Soth Bunthy, coming off a loss to Lao Chantrea in a title match, will be looking for a convincing win to restore confidence when he meets Thai fighter Ben Youk at 60kg.
At 1.71m, Bunthy holds a record of 61 wins, nine losses and one draw, while his Thai opponent posts 58 wins with six losses.This is to be his first time in a Cambodian ring.
In the final fight on this Cambodian-Thai international friendly boxing card, Ung Vireak, who holds a record of 72 wins, nine loses and a draw, will fight at 75kg against Thai fighter Phach Bopha, who boasts 89 wins, 18 loses and two draws.
