Morn Sameth wins 57kg Cambodia Beer title

Prek Eng Keila Club boxer Morn Sameth claimed the Cambodia Beer 57kg Boxing Championship title on Sunday at SEA-TV Arena after winning a majority decision over Kim Bora of Banteay Meanchey’s Raksmey Pumkeab Club in the final of the competition, which has been running since May 25.

Four judges awarded Sameth the victory by points, while one other gave it to Bora. Cambodia Boxing Federation vice president Chheung Yaoyen, who was monitoring the match, told the Post: “There are two moments where Khim Bora lost the match.

Firstly, he broke the rules by kicking his downed opponent during round two. Secondly, during the round five, Bora was constantly retreating while his opponent tried to approach him, which made him lose points.” As champion, Sameth collected a cash prize of 12 million riel ($2,950), monthly stipends of $250 for the next year and 20 cases of Cambodia Beer.

Bora went home with 6 million riel in cash, $200 per month for a year and 10 cases of Cambodia Beer.
