Thnou Sor Reachsey keeps up boat triumphs

After capturing triumphs on all three days of the recent Water Festival’s boat racing, Ministry of Interior Club’s boat Thnou Sor Reachsey claimed three gold and one silver medal during the 2014 National Boat Racing Championships, which concluded on Sunday off the banks of the Tonle Bassac river in Takhmao city, Kandal province.

While the November 5-7 races held on the Tonle Sap river and ending in front of Royal Palace were organised by Cambodia’s National and International Festival Committee, the following tournament was hosted by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport in order to find the top teams to train for international competitions.

Thnou Sor Reachsey took victories in the 22-man crew and 12-man crew races over 1,000 meters races as well as the 22-man crew race over 500m. In the 12-man crew race over 500m, however, they came home second behind Preah Khan Reachsenchey.

The 22-woman crew race over 1,000m was won by Reangsey Serey Pagna, while Pormeanchey Baromey Techo grabbed first in both 12-woman crew events of 500m and 1,000m. In international boat racing, Sem Makara won the single K1 men’s 500m race and Hun Rady gained victory in single K1 men’s 200m.

Hay Ravy and Ya Phally topped the podium in K2 men’s pairs 500m, as In Bory and In Lyfin streaked to victory in K2 men’s pairs 200m. In Pheary won the single C1 men’s 500m dash while So Thoeun went home with gold in single C1 men’s 200m.
