Twenty complete badminton training

Training for the BWF Badminton Coach Level 1 Course was completed yesterday morning with 20 participating trainees all given certificates at the headquarter of National Olympic Committee of Cambodia after 11 days.

At the closing ceremony, the president of Cambodian Badminton Federation, Ly Kosal, and top officers from Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports as well as sport officers of the NOCC were present.

“This kind of training course is coach by a trainer from Malaysia, Mr Sam Banthan who is also a developing region officer from Asian Badminton Federation,” said Kosal.

“Mr Sam Banthan is also a coordinator for the Badminton World Federation and on behalf of the Cambodian Badminton Federation, I admire all the trainees and sport officers who made their efforts in communicating with international partners to make the course happen.”

According to the deputy secretary of Cambodian Badminton Federation, Cheam Sophea, there were 20 trainees – including one from Vietnam – from across the country who participated.

Mr Cham Sophea said: “After eleven days of training, Mr Sam Banthan, the instructor, could evaluate that 30 per cent of them got good results, 20 per cent hold middle-of-the-range understanding while the other 50 per cent are at the premier level.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Banthan said “the eleven-day training course focus on the demonstration of training planning, understanding of psychology in sport and real practice. The results of the training are not fully successful because we have to practice in real life.”
