Secret charm of Chhay Keur in the Cardamom Mountains

Chhay Keur, a hidden natural resort in the southern Cardamom Mountains of Koh Kong province, remains a secret gem yet to be discovered by many visitors, says Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism.

This charming waterfall resort provides a scenic route through lush green forests during the rainy season, passing by crop fields and rice paddies.

Nestled within the Dang Peng commune's valley in Sre Ambel district, the destination offers a striking waterfall surrounded by verdant trees.

The cool waterfall, akin to ice, the chirping birds, and the refreshing breeze make a captivating experience that leaves visitors yearning to stay.

Access to Chhay Keur is straightforward. One can journey from Phnom Penh to Sre Ambel district in Koh Kong province and take a right turn at Sre Ambel bridge onto a gravel path.

The resort is about 214 km from Phnom Penh, approximately 72 km from Sre Ambel Bridge, and over 22 km from Chhay Reap Ecotourism Community.

The ministry further clarifies that Chhay Reap is not a village, commune, or district. The name has been in use since the time of the Khmer Rouge regime.

The road to the resort accommodates various modes of transportation, including motorcycles, bicycles, personal trucks, and cars.
