Cambodia's leaders shared their condolences with Thailand and the bereaved families as well as those who were injured in the massacre that took place on October 6, which resulted in the deaths of nearly 40 people, mostly children at the hands of a a former police official.
In a letter dated October 8 and addressed to Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that he was very shocked and deeply saddened to learn about the terrible mass shooting at a child care centre in the northeastern province of Nong Bua Lam Phu.
“During this sad moment, on behalf of the government and people of the Kingdom of Cambodia, allow me to convey my deepest condolences and profound sympathies to Your Excellency and through you to the Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand, particularly the bereaved families and the injured. Cambodia stands with Thailand in its grief over this massacre incident and wishes the injured a speedy recovery,” his letter said.
Likewise, Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn also shared his condolences via a letter addressed to Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.
“During this difficult time, I offer my deepest condolences and sympathies to all the victims and the bereaved families and wish a swift recovery for those injured. My thoughts and prayers are with the Thai people. Please accept, Your Excellency, the renewed assurances and my highest consideration,” he said.
