Cambodia, along with more than 170 other countries and the UN, attended a forum in France to advance a solution to the issue of global plastic pollution.

Kith Chan Krisna, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, led four officials from the ministry to the second meeting of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution.

The event ran from May 29 to June 2.

A June 2 social media post by the environment ministry explained that a total of 1,500 attendees from 175 countries, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, as well as UN specialist agencies, were in attendance.

The ministry officials also discussed the Global Plastic Action Partnership with representatives of the World Economic Forum.
