Seven Cambodian delegates attended a meeting on “Joint Inter-Institutional Response to Environmental Crimes and Biological Threats” held on March 22 to 23, in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Ministry of Environment said that the focus of the meeting was on three objectives – transboundary biological risks, opportunities and challenges in building partnerships with relevant sides and resources for implementation in the greater Mekong subregion (GMS)

It added that the meeting was attended by delegates from government institutions of 10 countries.

The participants discussed five main topics – the flow of legal and illegal goods along the borders in the GMS, updates on policies and programmes, and the attendees’ capacities and partnership potential. They also touched on the participation of law enforcement agencies in human-wildlife-ecological welfare work. The final topic was the possibility of the establishment and expansion of partnerships at the national, bilateral and multilateral levels.
