Remains of 21 Vietnamese soldiers identified, repatriated

Remains of 21 Vietnamese soldiers identified, repatriated

The remains of 21 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers have been identified, and expert committees in Mondulkiri province and Vietnam's Dak Lak met on April 28 to discuss repatriating them to their homeland, said the Mondulkiri information department on April 28.

The meeting was attended by Mondulkiri deputy governor Vin Sithuon and H'Yim Kdoh, vice-chairman of the people's committee of Dak Lak province.

Sithuon appreciated the effort of the expert committees in the two provinces, saying that they  had cooperated to carry out the work and were able to successfully identify all of the remains.

She requested that the committee of Dak Lak province continue to foster good cooperation with relevant local authorities and local people, saying that they have to honour the traditions of ethnic minorities and follow Cambodian law. 

Furthermore, local authorities and relevant police officers have to cooperate and make it easier for the committee of Dak Lak province to identify other remains left from the war.
